dc.description.abstract This chapter discusses the home accommodation of asylum seekers in Finland as a hospitable civic response to migration. It examines hospitality in the home accommodation of asylum seekers; taking place in the private home it is a particular form of pro-asylum mobilization. The chapter considers home accommodation an activity that aims to overcome divisions among people common in migration discourse, such as ‘host/guest’ and ‘us/them’. It analyzes the guideline material for hosts found on the Home Accommodation Network’s website which describes the general principles of home accommodation and gives potential hosts and guests ideas about what to expect. In terms of hospitality, the home is also a site of unequal yet unstable power relations between hosts and guests. The host has the right to decide about the basic rules of her/his home, but as many things as possible should be decided together when the accommodation starts. en
