Abstract: The Happy Alcoholic (1984, UK) by Karl Francis Main Cast: Dafydd Hywel Company: Cine Cymru The movie tells the story of Alun an alcoholic. He has to loose everything, before he has the strength to recover. Scene: alcohol male adults strong tobacco nontransgressive solitary health problem 1:34:31-1:36:11 In this scene we can see Alun waking up with a hangover. First thing he does is to smoke, although he is coughing heavily. With the cigarette he gets relaxed. Afterwards he walks down the staircases only dressed in an open shirt, underpants and socks. He walks straight outside and gets a bottle out of a hiding-place. He is nearly throwing up. The image of Alun is quite negative. The perception of the audience will be hence also a negative one.
