Abstract: Simpsons: $pringfield (1993, USA) by Matt Groening Main Cast: Dan Castellaneta Company: 20th Century Fox In this serial Springfield builds a Casino to fill the empty city treasury. Homer works as a blackjack dealer and Marge starts to gamble. Scene: gambling female adults machines Transgressive solitary social problem 00:12:23-00:13:15 Marge plays at a slot machine and forgets to watch Maggie. Maggie starts to crawl around the Casino and gets nearly attacked by a tiger, but Barney rescues her. When he brings Maggie back to her mother, Marge even states that she would have never forgiven herself, if something would had happened to Maggie, but just gives her a pacifier and continues to gamble. Here it is clear that because of Marge’s neglect of duty Maggie nearly gets hurt. Hence gambling is qualified negative and focalized on others than the addict. Clip: 294
